Dubai Bling’s Safa Siddiqui Shares Her Hermès Journey
1. What was your first Hermès bag?
My first Hermès bag was, in fact, the mini Evelyne because I just couldn’t get hold of a Birkin, which was my dream bag. I finally scored my first Birkin in Japan on my honeymoon. It was a black 35 with rose gold hardware. I often joke to my husband that the Birkin score was more special than the honeymoon…
2. What is your favorite bag? And why?
My latest Birkin 25 in Beton. It was my latest score in Paris. I feel it’s super special buying a bag in Paris. The whole experience is almost magical. The anticipation of the appointment, the frustrations, then when you finally get the bag it’s truly special you almost feel like you earned it. The best thing about buying a bag on holiday is that it kind of holds sentimental value too, it becomes the ultimate souvenir from the trip.
3. What did you wish you knew before starting your handbag journey?
I am a classic handbag lover, so I often choose bags that are the brand’s classic styles and stand the test of time. I only buy trendy bags if I really really love them. So my only regret is if I knew that they would appreciate this much in price I would’ve got more bags.
4. What’s next on your bag wishlist?
I really want a mini Kelly next – any colour. I’m just obsessed!
5. Are your stickers on or stickers off?
This question makes me laugh because I hate taking the stickers off. I know you’re supposed to remove them but it really breaks my heart to do so. That unboxing feeling is my favourite part of getting a new bag. I will make a moment of it, have a cup of coffee and take the moment in. I just feel it’s so final when they come off and it’s truly the final step of the bag not being ‘new’ anymore so I try to prolong that as long as possible.
